This isn’t how I wanted this chapter of my career to end. I did everything in my power to remain a Steeler and finish what I started here 14 years ago. I want to thank the organization, my teammates and coaches and everyone who made my run as a Steeler the best years of my life. To Mr. Rooney, thank you for allowing me to play for one of the greatest organizations in the world. To my fans and in particular, Steeler Nation, thank you for your support and all the great memories. I gave my heart and soul for you every down and I will always bleed black and gold. I do feel that I still have more football left in me and I am looking forward to playing in the NFL, again, this upcoming season.

Hey Hines Ward fans, this is Hines’ IT team coming at you. In case you didn’t know, the White House just issued an official press release last night announcing that President Obama has given Hines a Presidential appointment to his Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. What a big honor for our guy! The Steelers all-time leading receiver, Super Bowl MVP, and now Presidential appointee? Is there anything he can’t do? Hats off to Hines! Steeler Nation should rise up and be proud.

Steeler Nation -

I really want to thank you guys for the awesome feedback you have given me relating to my website. Your support has been overwhelming and I want you to know how much I appreciate that.

I have an important announcement for ya’ll: at hinesward.com my IT team and I wanted to let you know that we took your feedback seriously – especially when it comes to my Helping Hands Foundation and the ability to support it. You know that this is a very special part of my life. So much so, that I donated and continue to donate a large portion of my time and money to this cause on an ongoing basis. So after much thought, we have come up with a way for you to gain a very unique piece of me as well as have the option to give back through my foundation and that is exactly what we’ve done. Soon you will receive communication relating to a contest that will cost you less than one of those popular coffees you may love to get every morning or even cheaper than a popular phone app or ring tone some of us buy from time to time. This program will also last the entire season and we are committed to sticking with it. As part of this unique program the entire hinesward.com team will also be donating proceeds to Helping Hands. As a matter of fact, everyone that is behind the scenes of this project will also be giving back. It’s a total team effort and I won’t have it any other way. Curious? Just stay tuned as I am really excited about what’s to come!

Hey everybody. Hope you guys are enjoying my website and feel a little “closer” to me as I do to you. Just wanted you to know that my new website is going to be different than anything you have seen in the past. This new website means a lot to me because I had it revamped so that I could reach out more to all of you guys with my thoughts, emotions, and stories as they come to mind. Without you, my long journey to establishing myself in my career would not be complete. I am really starting to take more notice and charge of the things in life that matter and you guys are at the top of my list.

On that note, there’s more to come in the very near future, so stay tuned. I hope you are having some fun with my site, feeling like you can communicate with me, and that you are part of my fan family. Please feel free to also voice your thoughts, comments, and opinions about whatever is on your mind. Now, I may not always be able to comment back, depending on the topic, but I will take notice of what you are saying. But you never know. I may just jump in on any discussion I see on the site. All I ask is that you be and stay respectful to one another. You can keep it real, just keep it real classy and professional too.

So just like my goal for this year on the field, I look forward to taking our connection to the next level. Thanks for being a big part of my life. Go Steelers!!!
Hines

Hey, everybody! Welcome back for another year of Pittsburgh Steeler football and to my new and improved website. In case you didn’t notice when you first got on, I have redone my website to give you more firsthand insight into MY world and more importantly, to make me more accessible to you! From now on, I want you to stay close to my site as this will keep you close to me. Throughout this season, through my site, you will be able to follow me both on and off the field and you will be the first to know about special events, opportunities, and all of my community involvement, including what’s going on with my Helping Hands and Helping Hands Korea Foundations.

Now, since I have your attention, I just want to say something from the heart: I want to personally thank each of you for your loyalty and support over the years. That has really meant a lot to me as many of you have been with me both on and off the field for a long time. Many of you have been there through the good times and down times and I really appreciate it. It takes a lot of time commitment and dedication on your part and don’t think I don’t realize that. Anyway, I am grateful for you guys. You know I play this game with PASSION because I love it. But I play it with HEART to show my gratitude to you, the fans, because you deserve nothing less.

Now to my young fans who I see wearing my jersey all the time – it makes me feel good when I see you kids getting your “86” on. I am really a big kid at heart and love it when I see you guys in the stands or out in the malls with my name and number on your backs. I hope that I will one day see some of you out on the football field, if that’s your dream. Dream big and work hard. And above all, never give up.

To my Georgia bulldog fans,…GO DAWGS!!! It always brings a smile to my face when I see ya’ll at the games or at signings. Georgia will always be near to my heart and I ALWAYS pull for my Dawgs when they play in the toughest conference in college football – the S-E-C!

To all my Korean fans here and over in Seoul, South Korea, thank you for all of your support and hospitality. Korea has been very supportive of my mom and me and I appreciate all of the love. A big shout out to my biracial kids over at Pearl Buck Korea. I love you guys and look forward to seeing you guys soon!

Now what have I been up to lately? Well, this offseason I tried to have some fun and relax a little. I spent a lot of time with my son and traveled. I took my son to Disney World, spent some time in Miami during Super Bowl week making appearances for GQ and DirecTV, and bowled with the NBA’s Chris Paul on ESPN. One of the unexpected highlights of my summer was when I traveled to Vegas for a celebrity event. While there, I played the slots a little and I guess I must have had the lucky hand as I hit the jackpot,..literally! So I had some unexpected spending money that trip. Of course, I gave a lot of the money to my mom, but I was still able to enjoy the rest here and there.

Another highlight of my offseason was an unexpected honor I received from my birthplace, South Korea. I received word from the country that they were making me an honorary Ambassador to the famous Jeju or “Honeymoon” Island, one of the places vying to become one of the “7 New Wonders of the World”. This was a big honor and very humbling for me. So if you get a chance, go and check out my new island!

Now, getting down to business: this year, during OTA’s, I worked out and played a slightly different role than normal. I worked a lot more with the young receivers and, in particular, Mike Wallace. Mike has a lot of talent and I think he is going to be a dominant force for our team and in the NFL this year. Since Santonio is gone, Mike will have to step up his game, and I think he is ready to do just that. With Randle El back, and the young receivers in tact, we should be ready to go come September.

I don’t know how you guys are feeling but I can’t wait for this year to start. The rookies are looking good, Troy will be back in full swing, and the city is rockin’ with the smell of a championship in the air already. I am looking forward to catching up with my teammates again and getting back to working together as a team – all for one thing: to give you all and the city of Pittsburgh an unheard of 7th World Championship!

So, get ready,…this should be an exciting year for all of us. Just stay with me and let’s make history together! Go Steelers!!

Your,…2-time Super Bowl Champion,…
Super Bowl XL MVP,…Steeler for Life,
