9/11/05 Vs. Tennessee Titans Ward has two receptions from Ben Roethlisberger for 25 yards.  Steelers win their 15th in a row, four short of breaking the Patriots' NFL regular-season record they stopped last season.  Pittsburgh has won its last three openers under Cowher after winning only four of its first 11. W 34-7
9/18/05 @ Houston Texans Ward catches a pass in his team-record 106th consecutive game.  Goes on to lead the team with six receptions, 84 receiving yards and two TDs.  This is the seventh time in his career he has caught two touchdowns in a single game.  Pittsburgh wins its 16th straight regular-season game, matching the Miami teams of 1971-73 and 1983-84 for the second best run in league history. The record is 18, set by the Patriots and ended by the Steelers when they met last October in Pittsburgh. W 27-7
9/25/05 Vs. New England Patriots With four passes for 110 yards, Ward gets two touchdowns in a game for the second straight week and eighth time in his career.  He stretches his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 107.  Ward's first touchdown reception from Roethlisberger went for a career-long 85 yards, the longest against the Patriots since an 86-yarder by Kansas City in 1990.  He makes his second TD with 1:21 remaining to tie the score at 20-20.  With 5 seconds left in the 4th, Patriots' Adam Vinatieri's 43 yard field goal is good, giving the Patriots the game 23-20. 10/10/05 @ San Diego Chargers Ward leads with six receptions for 83 yards, including a long of 33 yards in his 108th consecutive game with a reception.  Roethlisberger is helped off the field with an apparent knee injury after he was hit on the knee by the helmet of Chargers rookie lineman Luis Castillo just before Jeff Reed kicks a 40-yard field goal with 6 seconds left to give the Steelers a 24-22 win over the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football. W 24-22
10/16/05 Vs. Jacksonville Jaguars For the first time in his career, Ward misses a game, with a hamstring injury, snapping his consecutive games played (116) and games started (83) streak. L 17-23 in OT
10/23/05 @ Cincinnati Bengals Ward returns after missing the first game of his career.  He catches three passes for 35 yards, with a long of 18 and a four-yard touchdown on a pass from Roethlisberger on the final play in the 3rd quarter.  He also has one rush for four yards and makes a recovery after Shayne Graham kicks onside. Steelers take in their 10th straight road win. W 27-13
10/31/05 Vs. Baltimore Ravens Ward finishes the game with eight catches for 75 yards. W 20-19
11/6/05 @ Green Bay Packers Starting his 100th career game, Ward gets one pass for 12 yards.  He throws a key block to assist Antwaan Randle El on a 43-yard rush on the Steelers' first play from the scrimmage line.  Ward extends his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 111 and moves to within three receptions of breaking John Stallworth's career record for catches (537). W 20-10
11/13/05 Vs. Cleveland Browns Ward makes Steelers' history with a 15-yard reception late in the second quarter to break John Stallworth's reception record (537) to become the Steelers all time leading receiver.  No other receiver in team history has more than 358.   He finishes with eight receptions (543 for his career) for 124 yards, including a 51-yard TD reception on a pass from WR Randle El.  Two Ward TDs were left on the field when after one is reversed after an official's review, and on the other he was ruled down at the one-yard line.  Under pressure, Ward plays his best when the Steelers need him most, with QBs Roethlisberger and Charlie Batch out with injuries. The win puts the Steelers into a tie with Cincinnati atop the AFC North.  Ward earns AFC Player of the Week honors. W 34-21
11/20/05 @ Baltimore Ravens With Roethlisberger out injured and Maddox in, Ward catches a team-high six passes for 81 yards, including one from Randle El, taking a snap in shotgun formation before completing a 5-yarder to Ward.  Ward extends his streak of games with a reception to 113. L 13-16 in OT
11/28/05 @ Indianapolis Colts Ward has three receptions for 28 yards, including a 12-yard TD reception from QB Ben Roethlisberger in the first quarter for the only Steelers' score of the game. L 7-26
12/4/05 Vs. Cincinnati Bengals Ward's streak extends to 115 straight games with at least one reception.  He has a season high 9 catches of 135 yards. Ward makes two touchdowns, marking the third time this season he had multiple touchdown catches in a game, ninth multiple touchdown game in his career.  Also rushes once for seven yards.  This is the 13th game in his career to have over 100-yards receiving.  Ward's second touchdown, a six-yard catch, was the 50th touchdown reception in his career. 12/11/05 Vs. Chicago Bears Ward catches three passes for 27 yards; his longest catch going for a 14-yard TD in which he breaks tackles and dives into the end zone..   He has 3 TDs in the last two games.   Ward ties Lynn Swann for the second place in Steelers' history for receiving touchdowns with 51.  In Jerome Bettis' last game at Heinz Field, Breaking the Bears' 8-game winning streak, and ending the Steelers' three-game losing streak, Coach Cowher and the Steelers take it and stay alive in the AFC playoff race. W 21-9
12/18/05 @ Minnesota Vikings Ward has two receptions for 11 yards.  He throws a key block on Heath Miller's 50-yard reception.  Ward extends his streak to 117 straight games with at least one reception. W 18-3
12/24/05 @ Cleveland Browns Ward has 7 receptions for 105 yards and a TD on a 7 yard pass from Roethlisberger in the first quarter.  He ties a career high with his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season, surpassing Lynn Swann for second place in Steelers' history with 52 TD receptions.  Willie Parker carries for 130 yards, giving him 1,067 this season and making him the first Steelers back other than Jerome Bettis to go over 1,000 yards since 1992. The Steelers dominate the Browns more so than in almost any meeting in the rivalry's 55-year history and record their first shutout in 5 years. W 41-0
1/1/06 Vs. Detroit Lions Ward has one reception for 40 yards to extend his streak of consecutive games with at least one reception to 119.  He surpasses the 7,000-yard career receiving mark, becoming only the second Steeler to accomplish the feat (John Stallworth).  Bettis matches his career high with three touchdown runs in what ends up to be his final game at Heinz Field.  Winning the last four games, the Steelers now head into the AFC Wild Card Game as 6th seed.  Although it's a long road ahead, Hines Ward, Roethlisberger and the Steelers vow to take Bettis to the Super Bowl in Detroit. W 35-21
1/8/06 AFC Wild Card Game @ Cincinnati Bengals On the first play from scrimmage for the Bengals, Carson Palmer gets his knee blown out by Kimo Von Oelhoffen with a low hit.  Ward catches two passes for 10 yards from Roethlisberger, including a 5-yard TD reception, his sixth career post-season TD reception.  He extends his streak to five consecutive postseason games with at least one TD catch.  It was the Steelers' first road win in the playoffs since 1989. W 31-17
1/15/06 AFC Divisional Game @ Indianapolis Colts In a game that will be talked about for years to come, with many twists and turns, Ward breaks two tackles on a 45-yard completion, leading to Roethlisberger's 7-yard TD pass to Miller to make it 14-0.  Troy Polamalu makes a diving interception of Peyton Manning at the Pittsburgh 48 with 5:26 remaining. He gets up to run and fumbles the ball, then recovers, but the play is overturned by referee Pete Morelli, giving the ball back to the Colts.  Manning is sacked for the fifth time, on fourth down at his 2.  Bettis fumbles when he's hit by Colts' LB Gary Brackett.  The Colts' Nick Harper then grabs the ball and heads toward a winning touchdown. Miraculously, Roethlisberger reaches out a hand and makes a saving tackle at the Indy 42.  Colts kicker Mike Vanderjagt lines up for a 46-yard field goal attempt and misses.  Ward has 3 catches for 68 yards, and for the eighth straight game in the postseason, Ward has a reception.  The Steelers win their sixth straight game, becoming the first sixth seed to advance to a conference championship game. W 21-18
1/22/06 AFC Championship Game @ Denver Broncos Roethlisberger throws a 17-yard pass, finding Ward in the back of the end zone. Ward has five receptions for 59 yards and one TD.  He now has nine straight games in postseason with a reception.  He also rushes for four yards.  The Bus, who stuck around for a 13th year with hopes of playing in his first Super Bowl, in going to his hometown of Detroit. W 34-17
2/5/06 Super Bowl XL Vs. Seattle Seahawks Ford Field in Detroit looks more like Heinz Field with the crowd overwhelmingly in black and gold, Terrible Towels twirling.  In the biggest play of the first half, after Roethlisberger is run out of the pocket, he goes sideways and spots Ward streaking downfield. Roethlisberger heaves the ball across the field, and Ward beats Seahawks' LB Michael Boulware to the ball on the 37-yard play, down to the 3-yard line.  Roethlisberger then goes in for the TD.  Only 22 seconds into the second half, after a Roethlisberger-to-Ward pass falls incomplete, Parker takes a handoff and, after a crushing block by Steelers' guard Alan Faneca, Parker makes a 75-yard touchdown run, the longest in Super Bowl history (a record later broken by Pittsburgh Steeler James Harrison).  On an interception, Seahawk Kelly Herndon races down the field but Ward makes the tackle.  In the fourth quarter with the Steelers leading 14-10, in a play that will go down in Super Bowl history, Roethlisberger hands off to RB Parker, who in turn hands the ball to WR Randle El.  Ward runs downfield into the clear, and Randle El hits Ward, who leaps into the end zone for a 43-yard touchdown with 9:04 left in the game.  Ward catches five passes for 123 yards and rushes for 18.  This game marks the 10th straight postseason game with a reception for Ward.  The Steelers have won more road games than any team in NFL history.  In his 14th year, Coach Cowher is finally able to hand the Rooneys the coveted fifth Lombardi trophy.  The Bus' last stop is in Detroit as Jerome Bettis gets his first Super Bowl win in his final appearance as a Pittsburgh Steeler and Hines Ward is named Super Bowl XL MVP in his first Super Bowl appearance.   W 21-10
